Check out how the liberals are all over the possibility that PBS may be trying to include more conservative perspectives in it's programing. Congressmen David Obey (D-Wis.) and John Dingell (pardon my tittering...funny last name...sorry...um. D-Mich.) "called recent actions taken by CPB Chairman Kenneth Tomlinson ``disturbing'' and ``extremely troubling.''
I see, so it's FINE for PBS to openly promote NPR, the self-proclaimed socialist radio hub of the United States; and it's OK for CBS to openly run issue-advocacy programs for John Kerry. But hire more conservatives...Oh no! That's a violation of federal law. We must investigate!
I say, if we're going to require hiring preferences to encourage diversity, those preferences should go beyond the bounds of race and gender to also include ideological diversity. Unfortunately for liberals, this would mean exposing their ideas to thoughtful counterpoint, which is usually fatal.
